Mainstream Common Materials
Low-alloy high-strength steel
This is currently the most widely used common material in petrochemical equipment. By adding small amounts of alloying elements (Mn, Si, Cr, etc.), it significantly improves strength and corrosion resistance while retaining the good machinability of carbon steel. Simultaneously, the cost is controllable, meeting the needs of most conventional petrochemical equipment such as pressure vessels, pipelines, and towers.
Carbon steel
This is only suitable for atmospheric and low-pressure conditions where the media is not highly corrosive. It has the lowest cost, but its strength and corrosion resistance are insufficient, and its application range is gradually shrinking.
Stainless Steel
Primarily used in highly corrosive environments. In the petrochemical industry, the most commonly used are austenitic stainless steels such as S30408, S30403, S31608, and S31603, which are widely used in various chemical plants, including ethylene and polypropylene plants. Among them, 06Cr18Ni11Ti (S32169) stainless steel, containing stabilizing elements, also possesses excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion and can be directly used in petrochemical equipment manufacturing.
Currently, customizable S32169 stainless steel products are available at a price of 7.00 yuan, supporting hot rolling and forging processes, covering the needs of multiple fields such as petrochemicals, aerospace, and nuclear energy.
