Metallurgical batching is the first critical process in steel production, and the stable operation of batching equipment directly affects the subsequent smelting quality and production efficiency. As frontline operators in metallurgical enterprises, mastering the correct equipment operating points not only ensures production safety but also reduces equipment failures and raw material waste. The following details the operating procedures for metallurgical batching equipment from three dimensions: equipment inspection, operating procedures, and emergency handling, helping you become a skilled technician on the production line.
First, conduct a comprehensive pre-start inspection. Batching equipment includes various types such as belt scales, screw feeders, and disc feeders. The key points of inspection differ slightly between different types of equipment, but the core focus is on safety and parameter accuracy. Taking belt scales as an example, first check if there are any obstructions on the scale body, whether the rollers rotate flexibly, and whether the contact between the scale frame and the belt is even. Then, check the control cabinet to see if the sensor connections are secure, if the weighing display instrument has any fault codes, and if the zero point is properly calibrated. For screw feeders, ensure the connecting bolts between the motor and reducer are secure, the screw blades are not worn beyond the acceptable range, and the inlet and outlet are unobstructed to prevent material blockage or jamming. For disc feeders, check the smoothness of disc rotation, the flexibility of the gate adjustment, and the lubrication of the motor and transmission gears. A 15-minute pre-start inspection may seem like an extra preparation time, but it effectively prevents production interruptions due to equipment malfunctions and should never be omitted.
Secondly, strictly adhere to standardized operating procedures. Batching operations must strictly follow the proportions set in the production plan. Operators must be familiar with the types of raw materials, proportions, and feeding sequence in the production instructions. Start-up should follow the principle of "no-load start, sequential start," starting downstream equipment (such as belt conveyors) first, then upstream batching equipment to avoid material accumulation and blockage. During operation, monitor the status of each device in real time, paying particular attention to whether the weighing instrument readings are within the set range. If the actual feed rate deviates from the set value by more than 5%, make timely adjustments via the control cabinet. For example, when using a belt scale for batching, if the actual flow rate is found to be lower than the set value, it can be corrected by increasing the opening of the screw gate or adjusting the belt speed; for a disc feeder, the gate opening size can be adjusted by rotating the handwheel. At the same time, it is important to observe the condition of the raw materials. If the raw materials are found to be lumpy, damp, or contain metallic impurities, the machine should be stopped immediately to prevent damage to the equipment or affecting the batching accuracy.
